Troubleshooting Issues | Making Your Jamberry Nail Wraps Smoother & Applying Them to Last Longer

If you are having some issues with your Jamberry Nail Wraps after a few days, we can help!  Getting them on is pretty straightforward if you follow the directions, but if on day 2, 3, or 4 you sense they haven't adhered as well as you'd like, here are some troubleshooting tips:

If you have lifting on the side or tip:
-you can re-seal again with more heat & pressure
- use the nail pusher and push down hard all the way around - 2 rounds of heat & pressure
-consider prepping your nails differently: wipe better with alcohol, consider spraying with hairspray ahead of time, or paint first with a base coat
-next time, get a metal cuticle pusher and scrape "invisible" (thin) cuticles that you probably can't see, but may be causing the nails to not adhere

If you have fraying on the tip:
-you can clip the nail straight across & then re-seal (heat & pressure) to remove any frays
-you can consider filing your nail tip at a 45 degree angle, actually on top of your nail, to remove any overlay

If your nails are especially curvy:
-consider cutting the tiniest of slits in the outer sides before apply to help avoid wrinkles and bubbles.  Check out this video for more on that.

If you're dealing with bubbles or wrinkles on the top:
-when you first apply, tug at the top of the wrap, outward and upward toward the left & the wrap, to stretch it more.
-consider using the "baggie method" (plastic bag over hand while heating and then pushing over to smooth out more evenly
-use your cuticle pusher to smooth them out
-when first applying, push up and down through the middle first, before spreading outward

If they won't stay on for more than a few days:
-make sure you prepped your nails well by wiping with alcohol or acetone
-use a nail buffer to give your nails a less-shiny texture before applying!
-try using a base coat of clear under your wraps to help them adhere better
-consider spraying with hairspray ahead of time (works well for some people)
-get a metal cuticle pusher, and scrape down near your cuticle area to remove "invisible" (very thin) cuticle layers that may be preventing them from adhering (you'd be surprised, this is often the case!)
-use same metal cuticle pusher to heat up the rounded end, and then press down around edges of the wrap (once on your nail) to seal it better than with just the rubber pusher alone

Other issues?  Connect with me at stcollection@juno.com and we'll find a method that will be the perfect fit for your nails!  You should absolutely be able to get 10 days to 2 weeks of wear out of them (although let's face it, even 7 days is longer than most nail polish lasts!).

It may take an application or two to tweak your process, but we promise, it gets easier and better over time!

Campaign to Feed 30 Kids Through Feed My Starving Children | Jamberry Parties with a Purpose

I need my life to have purpose.  And while becoming a Jamberry rep is a positive way of helping support my family (which is an important purpose!) I like to mix and match elements of service into as much of my life as I can.

Which is why I'm so excited that this is my new "Online Jamberry Event" header:

With this being the best part:

My goal is to feed 30 kids for a whole month each through Feed My Starving Children (this fall & winter!).  And while each donation alone might not seem overwhelming, I could never do this large of a goal on my own.  So I am grateful for the opportunity to make a big difference with your help.

If you're interested in hosting a low-key Online Jamberry Boutique or an in-home Girls Night In (or Mama & Me event) be in touch!   If that's not your thing, no worries -- I'll just encourage you to shop for your new set of Jamz at home in your pj's and make a donation to Feed My Starving Children as you feel led. :)

Here's to all of us making a bigger difference one little step at a time...
~Shannon

PS - My sister liked the idea so much she decided to join me.  That's 60 kids we're aiming to make a huge difference for!  It doesn't take much for a good idea to snowball, does it?

How to Apply (& Remove) Your Jamberry Nail Wraps | Fast & Easy Techniques for Jamberry Nails

Samples are great - but once you have them, what do you do with them??  Or maybe your first order just came in the mail -- what now!?

How to Apply Jamberry Nail Wraps | Easy Techniques Jamberry Nails | Easy Application Jamberry Nail Wraps

Ultimately, all you need is a little heat (think hair dryer or heating pack), and a nail scissors or nail clippers, plus a nice big file. (Though prepping your nails quick is a good idea too -- push those cuticles down and wipe nails with something to remove nail oils -- alcohol or polish remover -- so that they adhere well for the long-run).

Just like everyone's style is different, we all find some techniques more convenient than others.   Below are some super helpful videos with some slightly different methods for applying:

I will update as I find better quality videos that communicate well, but for now these offer some great tips.  Take a peek at one or two and then get started!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** If you don't have time to watch, or need a visual reference, here's the quick "how-to" list*** :

HOW TO APPLY NOTES:

1. Prep your nails by wiping with alcohol or polish remover and push down cuticles.

2. Hold the strips up to your nails to identify which one will fit that nail best. (Occasionally you will have to trim width, but usually you'll find one that fits.  It's ok to err on the thin side and have part of your nail edge showing on the left and right - it will just make your nail look longer and slimmer!).

3. Cut your Jamberry strip in half, or just a bit longer than your actual nail.  Peel it off with a tweezers (or use your fingers, but try to touch the sides, not the sticky part.)

4. Hold the strip up to a heat source (blowdryer, small heater) for 5-10 seconds (until you see it curve slightly).

5. Place  on your nail -- the rounded side goes down, near your cuticle.  Push and smooth down with your fingers, pull on the top if necessary to stretch it until it fits well.

6. Use a nail pusher or other flat tool to push hard around the top, bottom, and edges - tug or push to smooth out any ridges.  Hold your finger in front of the heat one more time just for good measure, while smoothing and pushing down. (Take the few extra seconds to push down and seal the edges well, or they may start to raise a tad on you later).

7. Once cool (few seconds), cut the excess off the top with a regular nail clippers, or a small nail scissors.

8. Take a nail file, and file downward (90degree angle to your nail) on the end of the nail to get rid of the leftover little ridge or pieces.  And that's it!  Two weeks of wear ahead of you!

Alternatively:
-You can skip step 4 (holding cut wrap up to heat source), put the wrap on your finger cold, and then hold a heating pack (like a rice pack you microwave) onto your nail for 5-10 seconds.  Then tug and smooth as necessary.  Repeat heat, pressure, and smoothing as needed before you move to the clipping/filing steps.

There is a learning curve (just like when you first learned to paint your nails as a little girl).  Applying may take a bit of time at first, and some of the wrap styles vary in thickness so they may go on differently.  But you'll get much faster as you go finger by finger, and then each time you do a whole set it will get even quicker.  With no dry time, it's faster than a polish manicure all around!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO REMOVE:

-To remove your Jamberry nail wraps, soak your fingers in a little bit of nail polish remover, or a mix of warm water and olive oil (my preference).  Then gently peel the wrap off, working more of the oil/water or remover under the wrap as you go (with a cotton ball or paper towel).  Even simpler, add a dental floss pick and slowly push down to glide the wrap off more easily! -- Now, time for  a new look! :)
